Coffee or Die???

One of the best and most impressive growing trends is that Americans are getting into the coffee businesses. There's two major players in the game that provide some good quality java at an affordable price - Black Rifle Coffee and Death Wish Coffee.

Owned by Veterans, Black Rifle Coffee is a mainstay for service members who like their coffee as strong as their attitude. Besides the fact that commercials for Black Rifle Coffee are brilliant, these guys do a very stand-up job of supporting Veterans and Veterans causes.

Their CEO, Evan Hafer states on their website:

"I started Black Rifle Coffee Company to provide a high-quality, roast-to-order coffee to the pro-2A and veteran communities. Between deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, I worked to refine both my coffee roasting skills and my firearms skills. I have spent over a decade researching coffee, refining my roast profiles and (of course) drinking what I roast. Black Rifle Coffee is quite literally the combination of my two favorite passions. I take pride in the coffee we roast, the veterans we employ and the causes we support."

Apparently, he got pretty good at it too! Black Rifle Coffee has a cult-like following with both Veterans and Civilians alike. Hailed as one of the best coffees on the American market, Black Rifle Coffee has taken more than its market share with American Coffee drinkers. It calls its tasty brew "Fresh Roasted Freedom" and touts a variety of clever names for the brews that will definitely hold your attention and keep the name of their beans on the tip of your tongue!

The Black Rifle Coffee menu is as follows:

  • AK-47 Espresso Blend

  • Beyond Black Coffee Blend

  • Just Black Coffee Blend

  • CAF Coffee Blend

  • Silencer Smooth Coffee Blend

  • Murdered Out Coffee Blend

  • Gunship Coffee Blend

  • Blackbeard's Delight Blend

  • Sniper's Hide Coffee Blend

While Black Rifle Coffee is a Veteran owned and operated company, Death Wish Coffee out of New York state makes an altogether different claim to fame while still supporting Veterans. They claim that they are the strongest coffee that you have ever tried and proudly state "we offer a 100%, no-BS guarantee: if this isn't the strongest coffee you've ever tried, we'll gladly give you a refund."

This coffee is USDA certified organic and uses fair trade beans in every bag.

Their website says this about their mission:

Founded on the principles which made this nation great, we strive to emancipate the conservative American from corporate coffee.

More than a product and more than a company, we are a culture. A culture full of motivated men and women who roll up their sleeves and get the job done. Join us as we take action on a commitment to the Veteran community and those who support it.

Although they don't have as many varieties of coffee as Black Rifle Coffee, the ones that they do have are aptly named:

  • Death Wish Coffee

  • Valhalla Java Odinforce Coffee Blend

  • Barrel Brand Premium Coffee Beans

While both of these brands are a great choice for those of us that prefer to support Veterans and Veteran owned businesses, I think the choice between the javas is going to be a pretty hard one. Both of these companies seem to have a lot more going for them than great coffee - they also appear to have a sense of humor and integrity.

Regardless of which one that you pick, I say "Bottoms Up" to both companies for their dedication to our nation's Warriors and to our country.

Black Rifle Coffee and Death Wish Coffee - you guys rock!
